Smiles & Daisies

Hi all, guess what.....it's that time again....for another post.....I will say at least the weather is warming up here and it's supposed to get even warmer this week......woo hoo.....I can't wait for the snow to be gone, it feels like the winter has been so long this year!!! Anyways onto todays post.........

I just love playing with the new Heartfelt Creations Stamps and Dies......so I did a card using them and of course my distress inks!!! It's awesome that the dies match so many of their stamp sets, so you can use them over and over and you aren't limited to just one set of stamps. So here's the card I came up with.............

Products Used

Cardstock: Strathmore Watercolour Paper, Cream & Black
Ink: Ranger Archival Ink Black, Distress Reinkers- Spun Sugar, Aged Mahogany, Faded Jeans, Tumbled Glass & Mustard Seed
Misc.: Ultra Fine Flower Soft- Citrus Crush & Raspberry Fizz, Flower Soft Glue

So a little bit on how I made this card......I stamped the 2 larger flowers on the cream cst and die cut them out. I stamped the daisy background stamp onto the watercolor paper, then using the reinkers, a paintbrush and some water, I coloured all of the stamped images in. Then using the glue and the flower soft I filled in the centers of all the flowers, except the 2 larger flowers on the daisy background stamp. then of course, I had to patiently wait for it to dry. :) Now I mounted the daisy background onto the front of the black card and pop dotted the 2 large flowers over top of the background flowers. Stamped the sentiment and border, cut it out and coloured it in with the tumbled glass distress reinker, mounted this onto black cst, timmed and pop dotted it to the card. The colouring took the longest, but I really love using the watercolor technique with the reinkers. So, that's all for this time, I hope you enjoyed my card and mini tutorial..........till next time..........

Playing in Paradise Challenge #8

So this is the last time for all of the senior design team members to participate in the challenge.........but we have something else we will be doing instead.......so let's just say it's theme based!!! Any guesses?? So onto today's challenge..............this is the inspiration..............

Isn't this beautiful.........so here's what I created...........................

Products Used:
Cardstock: Ranger 12"x12" Sticky Backed Canvas-Natural, Olive Green & Beige

I just love the inspiration for this.........so I decided to go with a little bit more of the green than what was in the pic.......but I love how the card turned out. I used the mini branches template on the sticky backed canvas and the glitter, then I frayed the edges a little. I made my own rose with the tattered florals die, the sticky backed canvas, my copics and the airbrush system. Then I added some of the rock candy to the rose. I just love these roses.......plus, they are so much fun to make!!! I punched out my sentiment and added the Scor Tape and some glitter to frame the sentiment, then put it all together with the lace, a leaf and the roses. That's pretty much it for this card. I hope you enjoyed my take on the challenge!!!

So let's go and check out what our design team has come up with.....................

So here's my card:

Isn't she adorable..........

Products Used
Cardstock: Purple, Pink and Prima 6"x6" Paper Pad-Sweet Fairy

So, I embossed the purple card base with Kassie's Brocade. Then I cut out the Prima patterned paper with the Labels 17 die and did the same for the pink cardstock, except I cut that in half diagonally, adhered them to the card. Now, I coloured the Birgetta stamp in with my copics and spicas, then cut her out and pop dotted her over the Labels die cuts. Added the pearl flourishes, then I cut the flowers out with the Tattered Florals die and coloured them and the rose with my copics and added some of the rock candy to them. Stamped the sentiment on the pink cst and pop dotted that. So that's it for this card......I hope you all like it!!!

Double Embossing Resist Tutorial

Hi all, well I was playing around and with some of my stamps etc. and came up with this technique.......I'm not sure if anyone else has tried it or even if they have a tutorial out there somewhere, but I thought it would be great to show you all!!! My card will be shown at the end, along with all the products I used for it. I hope you all enjoy it..........so, onto the tutorial.

Supplies needed for theTutorial:
Smooth White Cardstock, I used the X-press It Blending Cardstock
Hero Arts Clings- Happy Definition & Classic Fabric Design
Versamark Ink
Ranger Ink Blending Tool with Foam
Tim Holtz Distress Ink- Tumbled Glass, Worn Lipstick, Crushed Olive & Walnut Stain
Tsukineko Clear Embossing Powder
Ranger Heat It Tool or other heat tool

Step 1: Ink up Happy Definition with the Versamak ink, stamp it on the white cardstock. Use the clear EP (Embossing Powder) and emboss with your heat tool.

Step 2: Use your blending tool with the foam and blend in the Tumbled Glass, Worn Lipstick and Crushed Olive, making sure to overlap your colours. You can wipe it with a baby wipe or a piece of paper towel to remove the excess ink from the embossing. Trim down to the size of the stamp.

Step 3: Now before we do the next part make sure that the distress inks are completely dry, otherwise you will have the EP stick to the distress ink. (and yes, I learned the hard way....lol...) Ink up the Fabric Design stamp with the Versamark ink and stamp it over the Happy Definition embossed stamping, apply the clear EP and heat emboss this. I hope you can see how it looks in the photo.

Step 4: Now the magic happens......using your blending tool and the Walnut Stain Distress Ink, blend the ink and watch as a new design appears over top of the other one. You can wipe it again, with a baby wipe or a piece of paper towel to remove the excess ink from the embossing.

Here's a close up of it.....................

So that's it.....I really love this technique, I hope you have fun playing!!! Also, you can experiment with various stamps and colours, just remember that you want to use the darkest ink colour last, as it should be dark enough to cover all the other colours you have used. There's so much you can do with this technique, you could use just blues or purples etc., or try it with 2 different colours of EP.

Well I hope you enjoyed my tutorial, if you have any questions please feel free to leave them in the comments section and I will do my best to answer you ASAP.

Now onto how the card looks............

Products Used:
Cardstock: X-press It Blending Cardstock, Brown Cardstock

So all I did to finish the card was use the punch down the side, stamped and cut out the sentiment and tag, then added some bling and the ribbon and bow.

I did do another card with the same technique, but I used the new Heartfelt Creations stamps, Daisy Patch Background & Stained Glass Background instead, here's how it turned out..............

So that's it for this post..........I'm still waiting for the warm weather to come..........lol........it doesn't look like I'm going to get my wish anytime soon!!! :)  So until next time.......................
